Dr April Scholey

April Scholey BDS (Hons) MFDS RCS (Glas) Dip Rest RCS (Eng)

I am a kind and caring Dentist who has worked in private practice for a number of years. I pride myself on providing a high quality standard of treatments and work meticulously to ensure our patients here have the best oral health, and beautiful aesthetic smiles.

I am skilled at treating nervous patients having worked in Community for 2 years with some of the most nervous and phobic patients – and patients with challenging special needs. I have also developed my skills in oral surgery and increased my knowledge of pathology of the head and neck having spent a year as an Oral and Maxillofacial SHO in Pinderfields General Hospital. This year I was proud publish a case report in the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery about a case of first bite syndrome seen after a bimaxillary osteotomy. So quite a rare syndrome!

I am also a dentist with a special interest in Temperomandibular Disorder (TMD) and am part of the TMD team Manchester Dental Hospital. TMD is a branch of facial pain which is very common and few practitioners know how to treat. This inspired me to look further into the condition more and work with consultants in the field whic now do once a month in Manchester.

I have also furthered myself academically by completing my MFDS exam and a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons. This has led me towards being able to take on more challenging restorative cases.

In my spare time, I love to be on adventures in the great outdoors. Whether it’s on bike, boat or by foot I always look forward to socialising at the end with my friends and family!
