Ms Lauren Kenworthy RDH RDT (GDC: 119886) Dental Hygiene Therapist
At a young age I decided I wanted a career in Dentistry so after finishing my A-levels at sixth form I worked for two years at the Leeds Dental Institute (LDI) gaining my NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing. I then went to work as a Dental Nurse full time in a private dental practice and also completed a Higher Education Diploma part time at the University of Leeds to expand my knowledge. In 2009 I went back to the LDI as a Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy student. I graduated in December 2011 and have worked in many different dental practices as both a Hygienist and a Therapist.
I see many patients with gum disease and help them to improve their routines at home, and in conjunction with the dentists here, allow patients to undergo further treatment with their teeth once their gums are lovely and healthy again. I see lots of our implant patients, and help maintain a healthy environment in the mouth to ensure all of the work they have undergone lasts a long time. I love teaching my patients how to take care of their mouths and often see them just for a teaching session once they have had all of their dental work done. As a Dental Therapist, I am qualified to treat all of our child patients, completing fillings and extractions for them, and under the prescription of a dentist, also completing fillings on our adult patients.
I love my job! I enjoy building a rapport with patients, and am committed to helping all my patients achieve the best oral health possible. My ambition is to be more involved with the more difficult cases we see and to keep going forward with my skills and training.
When I’m not at work I enjoy holidays in the sunshine, going to the gym, make up and all things girly, seeing friends and family and spending time with my two crazy Cocker Spaniels Ralph and Rosie.
